A skilled watchmaker can restore both sapphire and mineral crystals that have been scratched or damaged through regular wear. Polishing is significantly more affordable than a full crystal replacement and saves you money, while preserving the original appearance and performance of your timepiece.
Sapphire crystal is exceptionally durable thanks to the unique properties of the material. Home polishing is not advised, since using the wrong abrasive can worsen the damage and create additional defects. Professional treatment is the safest and most effective solution.
Our master watchmakers follow a precise and proven procedure:
- They begin by identifying the exact composition and hardness of the original crystal, since this determines the appropriate tools and polishing compounds needed for safe restoration.
- They select the optimal polishing method based on the depth and nature of the damage, using professional restoration pastes with varying abrasiveness and, when necessary, specialized polishing equipment.
- They then process the crystal. To protect the case and movement, the crystal is carefully removed before polishing and reinstalled once the work is complete.
If diagnostics reveal severe damage, our team can replace the crystal with a new one. With your approval, we can also clean and service the movement to extend its lifespan and ensure precise performance.
